Protocols: NNTP / NNTPS / SMTP Server / SMTP
From: Internal / Local Host / (COMPUTER) < You might need to add this if you havent already done so
To: yoursmarthostaddress

For outgoing it shouldn't need to.
Is port 25 blocked going outwards?

31st July 2009, 09:47 AM #7 No, its open...
Not had any NDRs yet - just "Delayed" reports...
Seems odd that i can receive but not send - usually its the other way round!

31st July 2009, 02:11 PM #8 Right, This is what I need to work on over the weekend
Checked the Message Queue in EMS and seen this:
451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate
hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts.
I can find no reference to "." however...
At home as caretaker chucked us all out and sodding VPN still isn't working

31st July 2009, 04:20 PM #9 Where abouts is your smarthost located in relation to your exchange server?
One good test - see if you can telnet to your smarthost (on port 25) from your exchange box. You may also get a more meaningful error message!

Make sure you are specifying port 25 as the port - telnet will just default to 23 otherwise

31st July 2009, 04:45 PM #13 Will do
Weird thing is that it was working on my previous setup albeit on Exchange 2003!
Guessing my ISA is a bit pear shaped as cannot get my VPN working either!
I can get out but nothing can in!!
