Lotus Notes ( srochford or the likes )

I know how to create a link using the create --> hotspot -> link hot spot

But was wondering is there a way I could create a vbscript and create my own menu bar item where by I can highlight text and click on the button and it will automatically make the text into a link ?

    Is that possible

    Version 7.02 on Lotus notes
