Laptop Power Options

Hi

I want student laptops to behave like a desktop in the sense of the power options but i cannot find a way to deploy the settings for all laptops.

I basically dont want the laptop to hibernate nor do i want the screen to turn off or go to standby when the lid is closed or when the power button is pushed. The settings apply for the current user but when a new one logs on, it goes to the default settings. These setting are done in the advanced tab

The reason i need this is so that we can turn on all the laptops and put them straight back in the trolley (Network cable connected) for ease of management.

Im not sure if anyone has found a solution to this.

Would the old "set up a user correctly and copy the profile to default user" work?

Do it the way hp does, set one up the way you want then export the settings to a file using powercfg. Dump both files in the logon share and run it as a machine script on startup:

will this change the settings that are in the advanced tab as well?

Not 100% sure on that but it should do, I think that the profile export includes everything.

Just tried this and it doesnt change the settings in the advanced tab wheich are the main ones i need to to change.

Find the settings in the registry with a decent registry scanner and export them with a tweak to the Default User key?

wont that just change the default of the policy? i need to change the advanced settings for all users
