I'd go for Adinfinitum. It's really flexible, you can change any settings you want, tell it to create home folders and stuff like that. We tend to download the trial, run it then uninstall it, sneaky but for the amount of time we need to do this sort of bulk creation it's not worth paying for.
does anyone have a/know of a good guide to powershell stuff with and user creation?
The Scripting Guys are your best bet - I posted a link at the beginning of the thread but here it is again: Hey Scripting Guy! How Can I Create Users from a CSV File?
Goes through a script to create users from a CSV, with careful notes on each step.
There's also a Powershell Scriptomatic utility that might be useful: PowerShell Scriptomatic
AUM works fine on Server 08 here...
AUM won't take the registration code on my test box... issues with x64 maybe?
Edit: cheated and copide the program folder from my PC where it registered OK![]()

Back to the top with this one... there's a 2nd problem
The AUM works fine for a manual import but chances are we'll need to run this weekly or even nightly to keep up with the new enrolments so need something that can be scripted.
Been trying the Quest cmdlets and pulling my hair out in frustration as they're so awkward and the syntax seems to change with every revision so 1/2 the Internet samples don't work!
So any suggestions for something that can be scripted (not UMRA as it's far too pricey) and doesn't need to be built from scratch
Edit: looks like the Dovestones one will work![]()

Hi guys/gals I am currently working on Live@EDU for our school and a by product of work using powershell have put together a couple of scripts using ADSI, Quest cmlets and CSV file to do bulk AD jobs i.e. like make mail EN distribution groups and add users to groups etc.
I have only made scripts I've needed so hope to build that up.
I have made up how to for live@edu administration - Live@EDU Outlook Live – How to get started
Most of the time scripts are written for IT in the know. What I would like to do is collaborate & slowly put technical jibberish code snippets together with easy to read language; well that is the goal.
I have some old VB scripts that may be useful as well but its more audit based than user creation, I never really like VB, way to clunky. Mainly use administration program such as Adventnet, Altiris etc, but unfortunately not affordable to some.
I'm not really on here much and post to my site mainly but I do like searching this forum and adding helpful links where approriate. I send a lot of my projects to my predecessor at NT Catholic Education so if you're in that area they might have some info.
Cheers,
Phil

We're looking at Live@Edu as well, do you have to create the mailboxes manually or can they just tie into an AD user account and auto create when logged in?
galsync 2010; and ilm2 are the buzz words to look for, there was something starting with F "" 2010 but can't remember at this time.
GalSync 2010 releases for Outlook Live | Easy Read Articles &
Implement GALSync 2010
Hope that helpsWhen you start using it you will see how easy it is, any comments on artcile would be much appreciated on site.
Would like to start building some resource, especially for ICT's in schools.
gshaw let me know how you go
Cheers,
Phil
