Okay I have another problem. I've actually managed to sort out the Active Desktop with scripts running in the background etc but (There's always a but) I would like to remove all of the desktop icons and just have the shortcuts i've setup in a shared folder. I have got the shared folder and active deskotp working and I've removed all but Outlook from the desktop there doesn't seem to be any way of doing this in GPO because if you "Hide and disable all items on the desktop" it also stops the Active Desktop htm page as well!
Any ideas?
Wes

how is the outlook icon put onto the desktop is it just a case of its in the All users folder in c:\documents and settings or what exactly ?
If its in the all users local profile then what about getting one of the scripts to just delete it if it exists using the fso ?

I've just checked and its a namespace link there is a script to delete it at logon but I'm wondering whether or not there is a better workaround?

I think it will take a registry change for it to go away so I may just nt install outlook and find another client!

Can you not make a transform for the msi that installs outlook to remove the icon?
Do you users use outlook then? if not just don't install it?

Where in the installation options would the ability to not install the icon be?
Thanks
