Hi
I tried to update my bios earlier, i have an Acer Apsire 1640z laptop.
I downloaded the update from the official site, ran the update, automatically restarted my computer and when it turned back on blank screen, and 3 beeps, 1 long 2 short (which i researched being a graphics failure).
Is there anyway you can think of so i can roll back that update?
I have removed my CMOS and put it back again after 20 minutes... thats all i know, i have spent the last hour and a half dismantling my laptop trying to get to the graphics card but the case would only come off so much and i couldnt get to one screw.

Nope. I'd phone Acer and see what they have to say, if it's an official update hopefully they'll support it.

Acer support is a nightmare so be patient and keep pestering them until you get a result

If repairing it will cost me, my laptop isnt worth saving she has been dying for a while and i guess that she passed her best before date. Good excuse for a new one

From experience, I now think think that rule 1 with BIOS and other firmware updates is: don't do them unless you absolutely have to. They can be a very quick way to break valuable h/w.
