    ADMX files are put into a central store in SYSVOL, ADM files you have to inject into the policies (making them bigger) ADMX are read by group policy, the settings saved into the policy, but the actual file remains external to the policy.

    Policies are smaller, centrally updated ADMX files etc...

    We are still using IE6 as none of the national systems support IE7 yet not even thinking about IE8. There is supposed to be an update later this year for us, it will be interesting rolling out IE7 to 4000+ users, I can imagine there will be alot of helpdesk calls.
