Hello all,
I have a user who's having a problem with the BBCi Player and Real Player. The problem being that when they click on the link, the BBCi Player window loads, but then the Play, Stop, Pause and progress bar do not appear.
In its place is just a small white box within the window. I have checked the control is loaded and enabled. They're using IE8 and I have tried to replicate my settings so it's the same as their setup. Mine works, but their setup still doesn't?
Any ideas apart from we all know where Real Player really belongs? That's right, in the bin!

Anyone any ideas on this? It's got me puzzled![]()

Usually when I get problems with BBC (too often *sigh*)... it's down to something stupid, but apparently unconnected. Try messing round with versions of Java, Shockwave and Flash, it shouldn't make any difference... I assume you've tried another version of RealPlayer

Are they using a proxy server?

Using IE8 on XP SP3; latest versions of Flash, Shockwave and Java. Tried resetting IE8 to defaults and made sure Real Player controls are enabled.
I tried uninstalling Real Player and re-installing, then also tried Real Alternative and experience the same problem.
They're using a desktop on a wireless connection, but I don't believe that to be a problem. Connectivity is very good and websites load at normal speed. They're not using a proxy server. Windows Media player streams on the BBC with no problems.
Why the BBC didn't use Windows Media in the first place I'll never know!
It's a real mish mash of formats on BBC, some Windows Media, some RealPlayer and others work via Flash Player... incredibly irritating and doesn't make any sense to me

Tell me about it, the BBC haven't done a good job at all in terms of compatibility and their FAQ is pretty basic too. It's a real mish mash of formats on BBC, some Windows Media, some RealPlayer and others work via Flash Player... incredibly irritating and doesn't make any sense to me
