Morning,
I've just been checking my machines for Silverlight 2 and have noticed it is not installed.
Can anyone tell me if Silverlight 2 should have come down through WSUS? Or am I going to have to send it out via GPO?
Also - is IE8 going to come through WSUS? Not seen it yet.

To be honest (in my experience) Adobe Flash is still better and more widely used, on something like 90% of machines worldwide.
As for IE8, yes it will become available through WSUS at some point. With IE7, it was categorised as an 'Update Rollup' so make sure you have this enabled in WSUS. I suspect it will be the same for IE8 (I would of thought). Options > Automatic Approvals. Then look at 'Rule Properties'.

hi Michael,
Yes I have the Silverlight boxes ticked in WSUS - so am not sure why it has not come through. I wonder if that too is on Update Rollups....
Thanks,

20th March 2009, 04:54 PM #4 I'm not too sure about Silverlight as I don't deploy it. Have you tried manually synchronising WSUS? Also, I don't think IE8 will be available immediately on WSUS, but maybe a few weeks or a month at the very least.
