We have a couple of machines which have lost the Windows XP logon box default colours?? Not sure how this has happened but is there anyway of restoring the default colours rather than rebuilding the workstations?
Usually it can be to do with file corruption and sometimes the logon window itself looks more square, whereas usually the corners are rounded (at the top).
Usually repairing Windows should fix this, but re-imaging would be better. I suppose it depends just how many of your machines have this problem?

Thanks for the reply.

It happens randomly around my network ( 900 machines ) mostly in my IT labs though. I thought it was pupils hacking myself.
I can re-image just wondered why it happened as well.
I've had something similar to this before. Try configuring options in the display tab in 'accessibility options' under control panel. In the General tab there is an option to apply all settings to the logon desktop.
I presume all machines are using the same image? You could (over time) create a new image with up-to-date fixes and drivers and see how this goes. I can't imagine an application creating this problem.
Even with no acces to ctrl panel, some users can activate high contrast mode be holding down or repeatedly pressing shift for stickykeys the going to settings>display.
Dunno is this could affect the logon screen though...
Yes it is, but on some of the computers it changes to a Windows 2000 classic mode style of logon box.
How do you reset the black purple and green?
Thanks for all of your replies,
Ben
shift + alt + prtscrn
that will turn high contrast on and off, as for the 2000 style, can you screenshot it so we can see exactly what you mean as i can't quite understand what you mean by that
