Backup Exec Compressions
Hi all,
I've got problem with hardware compression on my backup Exec setup. I've checked this thread but although that seems similar it doesn't strike me as being quite the same.
I know the files I'm backing up compress very well (tested this by compressing to .7z using 7-zip). However, when I tell my software to hardware compress, which my drive supports, I get 1.01:1 compression at best which is virtually useless given that my tests show it should work better. (admittedly hardware compression and 7zip will be using different algorithms).
Any advice appreciated.
Hardware: HP Ultrium 1760 width LTO4 tapes (800GB, 1.6TB compressed at 2:1)
Software: Symantec backup exec 11d
OS: Windows Server 2003
Files: images, "office" documents
