    Windows XP Home install media

A couple of staff laptops have XP Home OEM on them, but for various reasons need to be formatted. There's a license sticker on the machines, so they're already licensed. I just need the install media.

Any ideas for the easiest way to go about finding it? A bit daft that Microsoft don't allow a direct download from their website.

You will have to ask the OEM and see if they will provide you with one

If the laptops have XP Home on and have the XP Home COA on the bottom then you wont be able to put XP Pro on them, you will need to purchase the licenses for them.

Why are your staff using XP Home anyway .............. worrying

He doesn't want to put XP Pro on them.

As has been said you'll need to contact the OEM to get the media unfortunately.

    Sorry.

Ok cheers people. These are personal laptops used to do work, so it's kinda a grey area whether I should help out.

I'll be buggered if I'm paying for a disk though, so I'll have to resort to more nefarious means.

Install Ubuntu with KDE4 and convince them it is Windows 7?

Haha, I bet they'd most likely prefer it!

Though one of the machines is a two week old Dell mini book. I may try putting the HP MIE version of Ubuntu on it, which looks pretty sweet.

Cheers matey, I should be ok now though. Found Home OEM so it's just a case of installing the thing now.
