    Software for Creating MSI's

    Hi,

Does anyone know any really good software packages that package stable MSI's for deployement. (we don't have any/much money to spend!)

At present we have just been using wininstall LE, but I have been finding that some MSI's created are less than stable and cause problems when trying to unistall.

Any suggestions, would be much appricated.

How about the full version of Wininstall? Unlike Wininstall LE is supports full msi packages, the only downside is the cost

You can get stable packages that play nice out of winstall le captures you just need to spend the time to go through the package component by component and ferrit out anything that should not be there. This not only involves going through the realitivly civilised interface for files and the registry but also going through each and every one of the components - listed by GUID in attachment - and deleting the entries for anything that was not cleaned up by tidying elsewhere. As long as you get everything this usually yeilds stable packages.

Forgot to mention that version 10 of Wininstall LE is out, if you're using a previous version - a better than version 9

+1 for MakeMSI. There was another thread about this earlier today, the search tool is your friend.

Between Orca, MakeMSI & the free version of Advanced Installer ( Free Windows Installer - MSI Installer Tool ), we find we have everything we need.

Advanced installer is great. Just packaged a MSI for MSS2 and it works a treat. Many thanks
