If you start BES activation from the BB, where does it stop?

I've not got BB with in front of me but from memory it send the password waits a while then times out.

Sounds like it can't make the connection then - has the account got the proper data packaged applied to it?

The logs of the BES server come in useful here... I can't remember the log file to look in, but have a quick look through for items occuring when you try to do the sync. A google of any of the lines may provice you with the clue you need to beat Vodafone with!
Cheers
Will
PS, which Council are you under (just wondering if you're close enough to pop and help!)
@Domino
Vodafone tells me his account is BSE enabled. Is that what you mean?
@Willott
I tried Google and got even more confusedfrom the little I understand of the MAGT log I'm finding this repeated numerous times:
FindAndQueueAllDeletedMessages - Duplicate Delete command sent to device for RefId=-1126659481 with TransactionId=-900425184, not queuing
For my sins I'm with Leicester City Council so I little far for you but thanks for the offer. I can email you the logs if it would help?

I've just read back through, and looked again at what you said with port 3101
Is that testing internally only that it reports it can connect? If so it may not mean the port is accessible from outside your domain - and it will need to be for the device to talk to your BES
Hmm i've got my Curve set up with both our internal exchange mail and also my external hotmail account and they both work perfectly well, no messing at all, we are on Ex 2007!

@Jobos:
You have a PM with my email, feel free to send and I'll dissect what I can!

Well, after spending countless hours on this reinstalling the BB software and service packs and thanks to the links provided by Willott I traced the problem down the HT having the wrong phone package![]()
LOL we managed to stear ours round to sticking with a windows mobile based device... much easier to setup and make work :-) also... its only a matter of time before more and more staff want there emails on there phones!!!
One little test that is worthwhile doing is the SRPtest utility
c:\program files\research in motion\blackberry enterprise server\utility
very handy for checking connectivity to RIM
Blackberry Enterprise Server Express is now available as a free download for up to 2,000 users, who can be either BES or BIS users (so staff who have their own personal Blackberry can still use the service if they want to). We've downloaded it and will be installing it as part of our Exchange server upgrade/replacement in the next half term week. Anyone else installed this version yet? If so, any suggestions or things to be aware of?! I'm guessing I'm going to have to get port 3101 opened up, but beyond that it looks relatively straightforward, from the online materials and videos I've seen.
