    Backup Problem

Can anybody please help on Windows 2000 server backup. Scheduled jobs on the Windows 2000 server don’t work if the path contains a mapped network drive but it works fine if the path is to a local drive. I am able to successfully start a manual backup to mapped network drive but not scheduled one. In the task scheduler it shows the task is running but there is no backup file created. I am trying to do backup the server onto another machines shared drive….Thank You

    Re: Backup Problem

    What errors do you get?

What's the command line that is used?

Have tried backing up using the UNC path instead?

    Re: Backup Problem

Your mapped network drive will not exist when the scheduled backup runs. Remember that when the scheduler runs the backup, it creates its own logon session under the security context of the user you specify. It does NOT however run logon scripts or necessarily load a profile. You need to either specify UNC paths, or write a script which maps the drives and then kicks off the backup. Don't forget that the user account you use to run the backup will require network access. It's best to create your own account with the necessary group membership and user privs.
