We have been using our Terminal Server for nearly a year now with no complaints - but our exams officer now wants to use it.
SIMS still loads up fine using her account, but when clicking to open the Examinations part it get a Incorrect .ini error.
Tried this logging on as my account and get the same thing. Looked at GPo for TS and there's hardly no security in place and I can't see why it's being blocked.
Logged on the the local admin user (of the TS) the Examinations bit works as expected. So I tried adding my account to the local admins but still nothing.
Any help please?!
Does your SIMS.net work on your TS? If so, were there any special steps you needed to take to get it to work?

What happens if you physically to the server and logon interactively, does it work then?

23rd January 2009, 09:33 AM #7 SIMS.net loads fine but when clicking to load the Examinations app the ini error is:
Incorrect Connect.ini file : SIMS.Processes.Exception
More details doesn't give much information (that I can understand) and it isn't listed as to which ini file.
The account can obviously access S:\SIM\connect.ini as the initial SIMS.net screen loads fine.
Just to reiterate - this works fine for the local admin account.

SIMS Examination Organiser v6.67
SIMS.net v7.112, Build 19, Database build 3.61.502
The client works fine on our CC3 and admin machines, with the user accounts in question. I have also tried a full uninstall and reinstall of SIMS on the TS.

What's the contents of that connect.ini? I'm wondering if its redirecting to a path which the non-admin account can't access.

23rd January 2009, 09:50 AM #10 The S:\SIMS\Connect.ini contains
Code:
[SIMSCONNECTION]
ServerName=name_of_sims_server\SIMS2005
DatabaseName=sims

23rd January 2009, 09:51 AM #11 P.S. The user accounts in question work fine on other machines and they connect using the same connect.ini so I'm thinking problem with TS somewhere.

23rd January 2009, 09:57 AM #12 Not the SIMS server connect.ini the one on your TS server this should be located in c:\program files\sims .net\ I think. It should point at the connect.ini on your SIMS server.
