13th January 2009, 04:49 PM #2 I would think that Group Policy user wallpaper settings override whatever wallpaper is set within the mandatory profile...
Although I don't think I understand the question either

13th January 2009, 05:20 PM #4 We have the same mandatory profile for all students, but use BGInfo to set a different wallpaper for each year. Is that what you mean, or do you want users to be able to set their own wallpaper? If so, I think the answer is no.

It would be messy, but you could have a logoff script which captures the wallpaper setting, stores it (eg) in the user's home directory and then a logon script to put it back.

13th January 2009, 06:33 PM #6 You could allow the users to select there own background, but it would revert back to the origional using mandatory profiles unless you did the above and script it to save and apply it on logon.
I would set the background settings to a file in the homefolder, and then let the students the ability to replace the picture with one of their choice. Abusers can lose the ability to change the image and therefore the ability to change the background.
I did this on some profiles, and used a personalised welcome screen for new users with helpfull information that I could replace at any time without affecting anyone else using the same GP settings and mandarory profile.

Ah yes, that would be a simple way to do it...
