    Quick Sophos Q?

    Hiya,

I've got a laptop with Sophos on that has been removed from our domain after having sophos installed on.

The Sophos settings on the laptop are grayed out so I can't change them, how do I get access to them?

That's most likely because it's had the settings done by policy from the console.

Best bet is to get onto the Sophos site using your license details and get the standalone installer. That updates from the Internet by default so would be better.

If you look in the update settings is the Secondary server set to "Sophos" by any chance? If so it'll get updates from Internet if it can't find the domain server anyway so you shouldn't have a problem...

The trouble is uninstalling and reinstalling with the standalone version doesn't nuke the config files.

I've now found where to have a fiddle

    C:\Program Files\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Config\iconn.cfg

With hindsight removing the program directory after reinstalling would have done it, but I'd assumed the settings were buried in the the registry so I didn't try it.

There is a variable in that file called locked or readonlysettings or something and its set to 1 if its deployed by EM but if you change that to 0 its editable instantly.
One thing you also could remote is sophos remote management program thats installed as non managed machines dont need it.
