Default Sharepoint - Helpdesk and Room Booking

Hi,

I am slowly (very slowly) learning sharepoint at the mo and wondered if anyone had used it for a helpdesk and a room booking facility.

I want to start small and build up so reckon this would be a good area to begin with.. oh and to integrate OWA if possible.

I have it running on a little VPC at present to its in a test enviroment so I can take it home when I want to... it seems awfully confusing with the sites and stuff but I think I just need the chance to sit down for a few hours and play.

a good starting point are the MS templates you can get

Application Templates for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

although probably overly complex for most peoples needs, it shows what can be done, and a good startong point for this kind of thing.

Just remember to follow the install guide.

It may not help you but I use my ICT support system and EeEk's Room Booking system inside sharepoint as a simple web page object.

To the end user it looks totally integrated and both are 1 click systems that work in the same way.

You could also use sharepoints standard lists for a ticketing system if you wanted something very generic and basic.
