We currently can only access our email inernally via https://servername/owa, but now I've been informed by the lea that they can provide us with an ip address that will enable staff to access email from home. I've found in exchange management console where I add the external address (when I get it!) is it as simple as that or will there be more things to configure? Certificates etc as we use the standard free exchange owa one.

24th November 2008, 05:44 PM #2 There is a lot of different ways to you can setup OWA for external access.
We publish ours through ISA2006, which requires the SSL certificate to be installed on the ISA server and the Exchange server.
Do you have any spare public IP addresses available at your site?
What is your border firewall/NAT device?
I also believe the 'subject' of the certificate has to match what the OWA client's machine will resolve by DNS - Or am I confusing myself with TS Gateways!?!

24th November 2008, 05:50 PM #3 Take a look at msexchange.org for more info on this - sister site of isaserver.org which is like the Bible for ISA Server users! I set up our OWA by following the guides on these two sites.

Indeed - The isaserver.org and msexchange.org websites are valuable resources for any Exchange or ISA admin... Well worth a read
