13th November 2008, 05:03 PM #1 Toshiba A300 Hangs on shUtdown after SP3?
I've just taken delivery of a couple of Tosh A300's
I've put XP on the machine and installed all the drivers. I've then joined it to the domain and everything is fine. No problems whatsoever!
Then i've installed the SP3 update, like i have done on many other machines and now when i try to shut the laptop down it gets to windows is shutting down, the dialogue box dissapears and then it hangs with just the wallpaper on the screen. I have to hold the power button in to turn it off.
I know this is down to SP3 as i have rebooted and shutdown the laptop after installing every driver and the problem ony occured after i installed SP3. I have installed no other software on the laptop.
Any ideas?
TIA

My A300 does this sometimes even after removal of SP3 which I figure is caused by my shutdown script in GPO.

Its really
me off as i need to have this laptop ready by the end of the week!

14th November 2008, 09:54 AM #6 Does the event log show anything? I have successfully put XP SP3 on Toshiba A200's without any problems at all. I'm not sure how much difference there are between these two models.

Event log shows diddly squat!
I've got SP3 on some A200 and even a previous batch of A300's but these two just dont want to have it!

14th November 2008, 12:01 PM #8 So are you installing XP SP3 on top of an existing installation? I always (95% of the time) create new images with a XP SP3 slipstreamed disc.

No, this is a fresh installation with an XP SP2 CD which i then use the SP3 from M$ to update it.
