repair corrupted files that have been restored

I have had a user who deleted some JPEG files off a usb stick, I have used some recovery software to retrive them, however many of them are comming back corrupted.

does anyone have any handy tips to repair these files or are they corrupted forever?

Doomed pretty much... If the data isn't there, it isn't there. There's a few apps for fixing mildly corrupt jpegs (the ones that are all visible but have turned a lovely purple hue etc) but if chunks of it are missing like back in dialup days, you've got slim to none chance of repairing..
