    Adobe Acrobat 'epic_app' error

Has anyone come across a problem with Acrobat 8 where it crashes with the error "epic_app"

This adobe thread has info but I have tried all the suggestions and it still crashes.

Adobe Forums - EPIC_APP Error on Startup

This is from Adobe Master Collection with Volume Serial installed as local administrator on Windows XP SP3, the user has local admin rights.

Just to double check, your not trying to make your own separate acrobat 8 package and making a transform with the master collection serial?
That wont work as the serial ONLY activates a master edition install and not separate packages. Its really stupid but its the way they have done it.

Not seen that one, but I do think I've seen nearly every Adobe error message going.

"Unknown Error: CANT" is still the best one.

Acrobat Pro is still broken on OS X with CS4. Requires an Admin password to run then promptly crashes.

Photoshop CS4 is stupily broken in a file server killing way. Perhaps more about that in a rant later :P

Not from Acrobat, but I've had some software crash on me with the message "Error, cannot continue. Epic failure!" Real helpful..

Hmm, does the serial work when you run the normal installer? Is it being packaged? Other issues will be if it's part of a suite then often you can't run it until one of the other applications has been opened first, I know it's like this for 8 with design premimum.

It was installed as part of the CS3 master collection with the Key entered manually, not packaged.

The other apps (photoshop) work fine but acrobat just bombs out. I tried installing acrobat on its own but as you say the master collection key is not accepted so I had to leave it in trial mode for now. The key has been accepted on other installs that have been carried out (well on the one other install I did, not many people are entitled to use the licence).
