I have just wiped the host machine for our vmWare server and rebuilt from fresh so decided to give vmware server 2 a go.

I did have a script for vmware server 1.x which shutdown the vm, backed it up and started it again. This script does not work with server 2 as it uses a differant API for communications between host and guest OS (or afaik).


Ive had a search about on google but havnt came up with anything as yet so thought id post here and see if anyone else has overcome this problem yet.

I have also seen hot backups using the snapshot and windows shadow copy mentioned but im so busy atm that i havnt got time to look at this properly. Any gen on this?
