    DNS & NSLOOKUP questions.

    I've checked my DNS settings on one of our DC's called FP2.
    Is it right that there should be multiple entries in the reverse look-up zones.
    (Screenshot attached.)

    I also have problems mapping a drive to a server called "ilibra" when I attempt to map a drive from my workstation I get the reply
    "there are currently no logon servers to service the logon request"
    If I go to this server and run NSLOOKUP these are the results:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>NSLOOKUP
    Default Server: dns1-int.swgfl.ifl.net
    Address: 62.171.194.104
    > fp2
    Server: dns1-int.swgfl.ifl.net
    Address: 62.171.194.104
    *** dns1-int.swgfl.ifl.net can't find fp2: Non-existent domain
    >

    The ilibra server has two network cards set as:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ipconfig /all

    A DC's DNS settings should point to itself as the primary DNS server and another DC as the secondary DNS server. This is so it can register itself in DNS. Because yours can't, you are getting the errors you posted.

    FP2 which is one of my DC's the other being FP3 seems to have the correct values....
    fp2 = 10.7.43.152
    fp3 = 10.7.43.153

    the member server ilibra has the ipconfig info in the original post.
    it is the ilibra server i cannot map a drive to...

    regards

    All client machines (servers, desktops, laptops, whatever) in an AD network must use the DC's DNS server as their primary/secondary. Your RBCs DNS servers should only be used as forwarders in your DC's DNS server setup. If you've checked this and are still having issues install the support tools and run DCdiag/Netdiag and post the results.
