Given the lack of a general software forum, I thought I'd post this here. Opera released an official beta of version 9 today. This browser is superb. Opera is what weaned me off Internet Explorer in the first place and now I think its going to get me off Firefox now as well. I seriously suggest you download it and give it a try

What do you like about it so much?
Firefox can be slow to open because of the extensions, but it's those very extensions that will keep me with it, I believe.

What do I like about it?
Extremely fast
Very good mail client
news reader
rss reader
mouse gestures
Fantastic content blocker (read ad blocker
)
Excellent popup blocker (much better than firefox's)
Good password management
Ability to spoof other browsers
Integrated spell checker
Small memory footprint
Small install
Silly konfabulator style widgets
integrate bittorrent client
The thumbnail preview that you get when you hover your mouse over tabs is quite neat too. Not to mention that it scores a perfect result in the acid test
OK, most of these features can be added to FF by the way of extensions (which incidentally I always did). However why bother when Opera does it all out of the box?

to add to the list:
Its really easy to lock down,
the silly widgets are great - check pandora
opera talks to me - it reads web pages if I can't be bothered(windows only)
I mostly use 50/50 opera/firefox depending on what I'm doing - they both are great

I've been using Opera for a few months now (once they decided it would be free again!) and it has completely taken over from IE / FF which I used 50 / 50 before... the only thing I use IE for now is accessing Sharepoint. IMHO best browser by quite some way & highly recommended...
