Hi,
Can anyone recommend a free utility for testing your broadband speed?
I've tried a few websites, but they seem to all give different readings.
one was telling me 4mb download speeds another was telling me just 1mb.

I have always used.. Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test and that has always been accurate for me.
James.
I used to use Andrews & Arnold Ltd - Broadband speed test but mainly 'cause of the URL, speedtest.net is better and more efficient.
Hmm.. sod.ms have changed their site... booh..

I'd sooner tell you to goto Zen Internet - Test Files and download one of their 100mb test files.

I downloaded Dan Elwell's Broadband Speed Test.
Seems to be able to do detailed tests and gives accurate readings.
This is an site IP-Details.com : Find your IP address Information ,which helps to find the speed of the internet connection. My speed test result,
1277kbps when downloading,
78kbps when uploading.
the line sync is the speed you're connected to the exchange at but this isn't necessarily the same as the speed through your isp.
Was just a thought - I normally use this one
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
Which I believe was mentioned above but I never really trust them 100%
I was lucky to get here, as im having a lot of trouble with my connection speed. Thats why im asking for your help. I've been having issues for some days now, and every speed test i do, offers different results. I am really lost here. cheers and thanks in advance.
Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed
Tests accurately up to 50Mb (and maybe faster) which some do not. Which i found after joining VMs 50Mb service.
the kitz broadband site is pretty comprehensive on how adsl works and where to look for problems.
::. Kitz - How adsl works - 1 .::

Speedtest.net and isposure - Finding the fastest ISP in your area (requires installation) have always agreed with each other for me.
