One of our new teachers just handed me her son's laptop. He can't remember the password even with the hint. I hit ctr/alt/del twice and there in the username was "teacher". So I ask teacher if she can remember the password. She gave me some possibilities, none work. All of the obvious administrator passwords fail.
I'm blocked from downloading any tools, so is there any other way of sorting this short of re-installing XP? It's a Dell Latitude D510. Could this come with a default administrator password?

18th September 2008, 01:32 PM #4 There's a tool on the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows that will wipe the admin password (it's supposed to be able to change it, but I've not had any luck with that). Then you can boot into safe mode and make any necessary changes.
