In GPO - but exact location escapes me at the mo - will have a look when I get a mo.

In the GPO for these users go to user config > admin templates > desktop > active desktop > active desktop
wallpaper > and set the wallpaper with an image you specify which will
prevent the users from changing the wallpaper at all. this is the microsoft documented way. if you dont want a wallpaper create a 1pixel image file save this as a .bmp and then set it to that. or set it to a file that doesnt exist. this locks out the set as wallpaper setting

HI,
I am using windows 2003 server & windows XP as my clients. I configured the GPO for all the clients & disabled most of the features, still we need 2 more features to be added
1.Disabling right click for all the users under any part of the desktop. The right click should not be allowed in the desktop.
2.Users should not be allowed to delete any icons from the desktop.
Please anyone help me to solve this issue.
Regards
Ansari
It's not a fix as such but we use BGinfo.exe in a login script that blanks the wallpaper each time someone logs on. Works perfectly as the kids soon get bored of putting new wallpapers on when they realise it doesn't last.
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Control Panel > Display > Prevent Changing Wallpaper - setting this to enabled will stop the kids using "set as desktop background" in paint and internet explorer.
I used to do that to set my wallpaper beeswaxOriginally Posted by beeswax
They can't do that here as we force a particular wallpaper for each year group via GP.

I have been able to disable the right click in windows picture and fax viewer but the students have found a new way to set this, i have attached a picture.
They can click the set as background in the Picture task menu which comes up each time an image is seleted in explorer.
Does anyone know of a way to block this ability as they are annoy me now, nearly all of them are wasting time creating stupid pictures in paint and setting as there background, i know the teachers should be watching them and stopping them but this never happens and i want to remove the ability all together.
On our profile here we do not have the common tasks menu come up.
You can enforce a wallpaper using GP that will prevent the Set As Desktop Background from working
User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Desktop>Active Desktop
In the Active Desktop Wallpaper fill in a local or UNC link to a wallpaper you want to enforce and select its composition. Ensure the users have read access to the wallpaper.

That fixed it, we were using a vbs script to set the wallpaper, but we have activ desktop enabled and have set the desktop like you said as a local address.
One other thing, does active desktop need to be enabled what would happen if this was not used.
Thanks again

How would one disable the set as desktop background option in the context menu in firefox?
