How do you remove interactive logon

I have a number of workstations being taken off our network, I'm trying to get them back to the standard XP log on screen. However, I can't get rid of the interactive logon. Is there an easy way please?

Shouldn't they automatically do this when you remove them from the domain?

I presume you want to go back to the XP welcome screen instead of the Windows login box? If so, you should be able to change this under 'user accounts' in control panel there's an option for 'change the way users log on or off' which you should be able to set to welcome screen. This only appears when the machine is removed from the domain.

That's what I thought would happen to but it isn't?

Thanks all cracked it now. I had to rename the computer and set it up in a workgroup. Then when it came back up after a restart I was able to change the way it logged on.

I'm guessing you just unplugged it then, rather than removing it from the domain initially, which would have needed you to add it to a workgroup to do that... ?

Changing the computer from a Domain to a Workgroup is the way to do it. The Workgroup itself doesn't have to exist. You can put anything in the Workgroup field. XP will then return to the Welcome screen by default after a reboot.

Ideally speckytecky, re-imaging these machines with just XP and a few basic applications would be recommended as I'm guessing the software your establishment uses is still installed? Wouldn't want it to cause you a headache later on...
