I've looked through some previous threads on this, but still can't solve my problems.
Basically, all our machines have 768MB. I understand that although the main CS3 setup.exe won't work unless you have 1GB, it would appear that individual packages will install with just 384MB.
However, the majority of the CS3 "payloads" will only install via the setup.exe.
How do you get around this? I've tried downloading individual packages from the Adobe Licensing site, but the CS3 Design Premium serial number isn't valid for these packages.
Also, the setup.vbs script linked to in this thread here doesn't work (I've modified the bits in {}), as it complains:
Um, help?---------------------------
Windows Script Host
---------------------------
Script: D:\Downloads\setup.vbs
Line: 39
Char: 48
Error: Cannot use parentheses when calling a Sub
Code: 800A0414

There is no way around it apart from temporarily upgrading them to 1gb, your serial number is only valid for the main installer and not the individula packages, to get a valid serial number for those you need to buy retail copies.
Ben

I rang adobe tech support on friday to ask them this and got told there was no way.
They said that even if I had a valid serial number for the individual programs dreamweaver would run like a pig on 512mb.
We are now having to spend £1400 on upgrading 2 rooms of computers.
Ben
I don't understand why DW would run so badly - it's barely different from the previous version, and that ran quite happily on 384.
We can't upgrade most of our machines past 768, yet we must have Adobe on by September. Hmm.

That was what was said to me on friday so I don't know.
I have to admit I installed the trial version on my 512mb laptop and it doesn take ages to load.
Ben
we have a computer room with 512mb ram and all PCs installed CS3 just fine?
I'd like to know how!

burgemaster: was that from a collection dvd or individual retail copies?
Ben
Hi Folks
im banging my head against a wall on my CS3 issue
Basically due to the hooooomungus size of the master collection were (as with all our softwase) creating individual AI packages for Dreamweaver photoshop etc etc, these create fine and install fine (on any machine with any amount of ram i may add) but if i install two of the packages it knocks out dhcp on that machine?? the service just doesnt start and hangs on starting, individually installed packages work with no issues....
any ideas?
We're meeting the same dilemma.
Probably going to end up upgrading about 400 student machines and a tonne of laptops in order to get a site of CS3 up and running.
Luckily we've also got some RM Expert 3030's - it's handling the media/art requirement okay for the moment but no doubt that requirement will go up - thus the site upgrade.
Have created a single AI package which includes Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, stock photos and flash video encoder, the package weighs in at 1.17gb's and so far it fully functional with no adverse affects, it does take a long time to install (and to create) and am currently installing it on a below spec laptop for testing (512mb ram)
but so far so good , going to try and squeeze in as many of the programs into the 2gb AI package limit..
