Good one Gatt.. Well spotted, I hate searching for settings in GPO.
Good one Gatt.. Well spotted, I hate searching for settings in GPO.
Upon further experimentation, it appears this setting only works on 2003 SP1 servers. It doesn't seem to want to know on the XP SP2 workstations and I know the setting is being applied as there is a new registry key present.
Bugger![]()
bugger - not had a chance to test on any clients - as I aint got any running again - just got the DC up today and need to rebuild my entire GP's![]()
You mean you didn't have them all backed up?
Yeaah we did - got them all back in now
Have an new Domain name so had to Import them into a blank GPO!
Oh well Norphy looks like its back to messing around with ad.
@Gatt: Eeek DC rebuild, I've had to do it in the past and though it was straight forward (had all me backups), I alway feel i forgot something. Its like leaving the house and thinking did 'i turn the alarm on' or 'lock the door'.. stupid stuff like that.
tell me about it! I got a feeling ive lost some NETLOGON scripts![]()
:?
Anyone else managed to change this?
I used Resource Hacker and changed the XP Logon on the Logon box to our Logo, and changed all references to System Administrator to ICT Supoprt.
Looks good, so was just wondering if anyone else has done this?

I suggested it in this thread but Geoff pointed out a few minor reasons not to do it.
edited to reflect the merged topic - tarquel
Fines and jail time are minor? Which planet do you live on? I wish to move there.

The legal way to do it is to create your own gina which m$ gives all the information on and source code examples that you might need.
If you need to keep original gina functionality as well I believe you can chain them.
Ben
@Plexer, you got a link for how to get the source code examples?
if i'm gonna implement this at the school - i better do it the legit way!
Done it the not-so-legal way on a Virtual PC and looks great, but better do it above board for the school.

That looks like a good start.

I'm no expert etc., but I'm really struggling to see what the criminal case would be e.g. no one would be bypassing a technogical protection mechanism...
...and I'm struggling to see what the civil case might be e.g. I don't see how MS would be able to claim credible damages if you replace a graphic.
I guess we need some case law, but I just can't see MS pursuing anyone for this kind of thing.
