    Weird can't copy files error

Vanilla XP Pro with no domain.

File copying seems disallowed. You're not able to copy or paste files anywhere on the PC. You can create and save files, just not move them around afterwards.

    Error message:

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2945, fault address 0x00012a5b.

    Google seems unhelpful

I didn't set up this PC.

    Any ideas?
    Ta

I would try repairing Windows by booting off the CD, then all being well, apply Service Pack 3.

It's not evil at all I suggested it as it contains many critical and non critical fixes.

Could be a corrupted antivirus scanner getting in the way, might be an idea to disable realtime scanning and see if that makes a difference if nothing else helps.

    Thanks SYNACK

Omitted to mention I did try sfc /scannow and that didn't come up with anything.
