We had a similar situation with McAffee a while back. We just had to remove the relevant entry in the Windows Run key. On access scanning normally runs as a service.

Why would you want to do that though? If its an issue with kids disabling it just password protect it

@ bio: cheers i'll probably do that then i was hoping for a better way.

@ j17sparky: i have it password protected but they can still faff with scan settings and run scans, i've got this locked down in V2 but not V3 as yet. As this is on a Citrix box i don't want lots of kids fiddlind and setting scans running (poss on purpose) and slowing the box down.

Having the icon visible is useful as it changes colour depending on a problem on the machine.

You can quickly and easily see an issue if the icon is orange or red when all the machines are on and you're giving your IT suite a cursory glance when its in use.

It seems that i can still logon as admin and view the tray icon if i open the program and it still doesn't appear in the other sessions. I'll get an alert from the admin console anyway so i'm not too worried about that.
