Running a windows 2000 server as a print and apps server.
Almost everyday I am having to restart the print spooler as no one can print.
The service says it is running but clicking start settings printers - nothing!
After restarting the service all is fine.
Event Viewer shows no notable events immediately before the occurance.
Any tips to troubleshoot this one?

Try from a command window:
net stop spooler
cd %windir%\system32\spool\printers
del *
net start spooler
thanks but sadly there was nothing in there

11th June 2008, 12:49 PM #3 Sounds potentially like a memory leak causing the spooler to crash. In the meantime, schedule a script to reset the spooler every hour (for example), but look at updating printer drivers too.
