    MSDE SQL

I have got a spare server lying around and want to use it for a few different apps. They all require MSDE to run.

Does this mean they will have to be on a seperate server or can you have more than one instance on the same machine?

    Re: MSDE SQL

You can have more than one instance of MSDE running on the same server. It uses Instances in the same way that the full SQL Server does, but it doesn't allow you to actually involve yourself with the database at all.

    Hope that helps...

    Rob.

The latest version of MSDE, now called Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition, has a management console available for download.

This may or may not work with older versions of MSDE.

    Re: MSDE SQL

I can confirm it does, I've used it to browse our SIMS and EPO databases.
