19th May 2008, 12:16 PM #3 Client side?
I think that both ranger and impero have something like this but I don't think that's what you're looking for.
I use papercut on the server which is excellent and comes with a client application - it gives great control and is IMHO cheap.
That again may be overkill for your needs though.

19th May 2008, 01:36 PM #5 I was told last Friday that PMP 7 can be installed on a PC to control a local printer. (and can also be configured to use the server database for rules)
I haven't tried it, but might well give it a go in the coming weeks to to see how I get on with a non-networkable A3 printer that's becoming an issue!

Have you looked into an external printserver? or is half the problem people connecting it to their laptop and printing?

We just want this stand alone PC with a colour Laser attached to have printing restrictions so that only the supervisor can print.. with a password or pin..
There are no laptops involved.. the printer cannot be accessed from any other PC

19th May 2008, 03:33 PM #10 can you not achieve this by restricting the printer to the supervisor / admin account? (Maybe not)
or a login script that disconnects the printer and only connects it for specified user? could be done via local group policy if not networked?

20th May 2008, 11:58 AM #15 ! System Guard Download by Vctosft - Limit User Only Run Permitted Programs, Do Nothing Else On Your Pc, Lock System.
Haven't used it but someone I know has suggested it
This might help? You could lock the pc so that it can't print unless you put in a password
