@Grommit - At several sites I support they use Canon photocopiers which have such function. When printing to any of the photocopiers, you must enter a pin otherwise printing is not permitted.
You can also specify quota levels and if the photocopier is colour, how many black and white and colour pages are allowed.

A lot of HP printer drivers have 'job storage' in printing preferences so users can mark jobs as private, protected with a 4 digit pin.
