Linux + Squid + Dansguardian
Us in the IT dept use squid just as an open proxy. But i will look into Dansguardian.

Do yourselves a favour and buy one. Yes, i'm biased, but it is a relatively small amount of money usually, and you'll get a lot more filter. You might also get a BECTA approved system, which has little "real world" effect, other than to cover ones own backside....![]()
Did not know where to post this, but finally got full AD group access sorted in squid so staff and pupils have different banned sites etc![]()
It has been a slow journey with many distractions, but well chuffed it is finally working as I wanted
Anyone else ever get stuck with this then let me know.
I could probably post a full how to guide for AD integration (including groups) for squid running on either Ubuntu server (almost made installing on Ubuntu a scripted install) or Centos. We also use Dans Guardian in combination with squid, which could form part of the howto.
IPcop is also good at managing squid via AdvProxy (but does not yet support managing at group level, only user level)
