Argh!
I fixed a PC last week that was coming up with a error at startup 'Winlogon.exe Application Error' - 'The instruction at........'
If you click OK or cancel the machine blue screens. If you ignore the error the machine works fine!
Last week I reimaged but I'm not at the centre today so I can't do that, is there any solutions that might cure the demon?

We had this issue with a batch of faulty network cards that cut out ore refused to respond when the machine was about to login. Replacing the network card sorted out the issue and got ridd of the occasional moments when the mouse would get laggy thanks to the high interupts from the NIC.
Have a look here...
winlogon.exe - Application Error
Maybe it will help?
we had some success running check disk, seemed to fix some errors.
We now tell all machines to run check disk after imaging abd before running sysprep.
Steve
Well I updated the Novell client using remote control, next reboot and the thing starts looping at the XP splash so I'm now forced to pop up there anyway!
Will have to remember my XP CD and utility CD as I suspect something is faulty somewhere hardware wise.
Winlogon.exe is an executable file of Windows that is implemented in the Windows login manager. It is located in C:\Windows\System32 folder. If this file is placed anywhere else and frequently throws errors then it may possible that there is a problem in the registry files of the system. This application error can be fixed by repairing registry files of system.
