Invisible Hard drive
Hi ppl,
I'v got a HP Compaq nx7300 laptop and the xp build has died on it.
Rather than use the recovery option I want to format the whole thing and reload xp completely in case its a virus, but for some reasons when i put the xp disc in, it tells me it can't find a hard drive, but if i put partition magic in, it finds it no problems, any ideas, i really need to start from fresh with this thing, its driving me nuts

I would check out HP's website for SATA drivers for your model.

There may also be an option in the BIOS to run the SATA controller using 'Legacy' mode
