Hi All,
New to the forums, found them via schooltechnician.co.uk, onto the matter at hand
Is there anyway to set the default download location for Internet Explorer 6/7 via GPO?
I know there is the registry change: (HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer \ Download Directory \ REG_SZ \ <Drive:>\folder
With Ranger restrictions in place, saving to the desktop causes more problems than use, and would like oodles of amounts of staff and students, to be able to save in their mapped user folders.
Any ideas?

18th April 2008, 12:45 PM #3 One would hope and assume that, but its not the case. IE7 is installed without a single GP policy applied, therefore vanilla.
Not quite sure if Ranger (5.9) is interfering in the process, but does not allow saving for any reason. We were wondering if it was an update installed as this problem has just only started occuring.
My Documents, does link to their network drives, but iirc, I've never seen it do that.

18th April 2008, 01:03 PM #4 I wouldn't consider Ranger a vanilla network. A true vanilla network is Active Directory. Ranger might be the problem, but then again it might not be. With Active Directory, you have to download the latest ADM file, which then gives you all the policies to tweak IE7.
I suggest you contact Ranger support where they'll probably sell you something which is free
Let me know how you get on!

I didn't mean to imply it was a vanilla network, rather the settings/installation of IE7 default and clear of any side interactions.#
I'll give the ADM file a try.
Otherwise its a regsvr32 /s .reg on login script.
