Stop Infants closing down Internet Windows??

    Hi guys,

I am looking for some help.

The headteacher at one of my schools is encouraging staff to use online/web based resources with their pupils, such as Espresso, EducationCity that use a web browser.

The problem is that in Foundation Stage the teachers setup an activity for the infant children and all they do is click on the cross in the top right hand corner and close it! This gets very frustrating after the fourth or fifth time!

Is there anyway to disable them closing a window once it is on screen and maximsed? I would like some form of teach options however where the teacher can close (maybe using some keyboard combo).... Does some kind of thrid-party application exist?

    Any ideas???

    Thanks,
    CM786

Look at the Kiosk mode of IE, though whether you can still kill it with Alt-F4 I don't remember.

    Thanks for the replies..

I tried F11 in the past and the X still remains....

I don't mind installing Opera or Mozilla if that will help

for me on IE7, when I press F11 the cross is only there if they move the cursor near it...

or are they doing it on purpose??

On IE6 here...... I will try Full scren mode on IE7 then.

I have just tried the kiosk mode and to be honest that seems to do what I want - it can still be closed by CTL + ALT however, but that is much harder for the infant to do then just click on the X.

As powdarrmonkey said, you could use the kiosk mode of Iexplorer...

You'd just need to set up an icon on the desktop, or somewhere, with the following command in it:

    iexplore.exe -k www.google.com

(you might need to put the full path to iexplorer in, depending on your setup).

Then you can close down the page when they've finished, by doing Alt+F4 (might be an idea to do this when the children have gone or sat on the carpet or something, as from experience, they watch everything you do...)

Have a look at NoClose from DonationCoder - you should be able to run it before IE in the primary sessions and nobble the X button.

Or try using SiteKiosk - www.sitekiosk.de thats a great program and highly customisable as well.
