Default Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (aka BDD 2007) questions

I've started using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) to install windows xp over the network

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 as a test laptop.

I have imported all the drivers and created a task sequence, and using the Database - Make and Model option so that the laptop automatically selects the correct build.

I have a few problems, queries about the properties though..

MachineObjectOU
what is the format for this?

Regional and Locale Settings
whats the XP numeric Locale code for the UK?
What are the XP TimeZone and UILanguage name for the UK?

Wizard Control
I'm putting Y to skip the screens but they are still showing... should I be using YES

Other than these small issues the Laptop builds correctly (except the Locales - the time zone i can set manually during the WinPE stage..

I cant help you too much, but i would have thought, going on the name alone, that 'MachineObjectOU' is where in your AD the machine gets placed?
So if you set it to 'domain\workstations\laptops' that it would go there in your AD?

Thats only a wild guess though. .

Gonna have to google this MS deployment kit, sounds interesting. .

Yeah I gathered it was the OU i wanted it to go in, its the format of the path..
I'm guessing it needs to be like RIS -
mydomain.tld/School/Pupils/Computers/Room/

MDT is well worth a look at there is one issue to watch with regards to Disk partitioning (BDD's Uberbug with WinPE..)

Not sure if this helps, but here are the locale settings i use for some of our unattended setups. I imagine they're the same windows standard across the board:

[RegionalSettings]
LanguageGroup=1
SystemLocale=00000809
UserLocale=00000809
InputLocale=0809:00000809

Ok got the Wizard Control problems sorted - it needs to be YES format

Still working on the Regional and Locale Settings

Not too worried about the OU section at present as this is jsut for rolling out Vanilla Xp as a Build Template
