    WSUS V3 won't install

Okai, as said in the SP1 thread, and probably earlier on in the V3 original thread, I cannot get this flipping thing to install on a machine it was on fine with V2. It always fails at the last hurdle from what I can see on an IIS Dynamic Compression thing.

Below are the copys of the two logs:

Any thoughts anyone or suggestions? I tried the common ones that come up as google results about 4 months ago but haven't looked in a while but wonder if anyone has any thoughts.

The server its running on is the DC, Sophos, DNS, WINS, DHCP, Print, File and Intranet Server (Small Primary school 25 PCs 50 kids so no seperate boxes or owt for them) 2GB Ram, 3GHz CPU, plenty of Disk Space.

You could try re-installing the Windows Installer 3.1 and try repairing the .NET Framework 2.0 from Add/Remove Programs.

The strange thing is 0x80070643 (doing a google search) points to Microsoft Office? Can you run Windows Update successfully on this server?

0x80070643 is a generic error - you probably find more links to Office because lots of people have it :-)

If ever you get a hex error starting 0x8007 then take the last 4 digits as a hex number and convert to decimal (use calculator if your hex maths isn't good!) - you'll get 1603 from "0643". Now go to a command prompt and type net helpmsg <number> - eg:
    Code:
    net helpmsg 1603
    - error 1603 just means "fatal error during installation" which is f*** all help because you knew that already :-)

The attached file points to another log - C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WSUSCa_080220_2 241.log - does that help?

@Michael, Windows Update works 110% fine on the server no problems at all, and tried both your suggestions with no change I'm afraid.

@srochford, that log is the one thats the attachement attached to my post as its millions of lines long as it includes the details on all the tables it makes in its database.

Cheers for the hex error tip btw, never come across that before, knew about the help messages built in but not about the convert the last 4 to decimal before so cheers for that

So thanks for the thoughts so far but not solved it, and it defo stops on "Configuring IIS Compression".
