WSUS clients show different IP addresses in WSUS MMC??

Strange one this,

I've just noticed within our WSUS console some of the clients are showing 172.31.245.x addresses when we use 10.59.xxx.xxx range. Does anybody know why this would be?

We are using WSUS 3.0 SP1 (just upgraded) - the problem was present in prior to the SP1 upgrade which i've just done.

WSUS uses WMI to query the machines. The only thing I can think of is that there are multiple network cards in the machines (or perhaps virtual network cards of some sort) and it's picking up the IP from the 'wrong' one.

Def not multiple network cards and they seem to be confined to just the science department - no other clients are showing different IP addresses on a different range

ok, maybe multiple IPs have been assigned to one network card?
