C: drive NTFS permissions?

Who here removes the CREATOR OWNER permissions from the root of the C: drive on XP installations? If so have you noticed any compatibility issues?

Remove it here. No known problems.

as far as I am aware Creator Owner retains permissions, even if you do remove it from what you can see on the Security tab, it makes no difference.

If you subsequently change the owner, then obviously the original owner will no longer have permissions.

elsiegee40 i think we may be talking about slightly different things. The creator owner group has full control over folders that they create on C:, if i remove that group then users cannot create folders in the root of C:. I am aware that it acts like a holder meaning whoever creates an object will become the owner and their user account will be listed with those permissions.

Changes rolled out and no issues noticed so far.
