    Disk Quota Software

Has anyone found a good solution for disk quota'ing?

We currently use Spaceguard from PNL Tools but have found a problem with it: It always allows a user to finish saving the current file. If this happens to be a 500MB video file, then it results in them being well over their limit.

Suggestions of a better solution would be welcomed.

We just use the disk quotas built into Server 2003 and store all home folders on a partition with limits set.

It does work on ownership, yes. Setting the owner of the files while moving them isn't a big deal though, it's an easy habit to get into.

We use FSRM in Server 2003 R2 as well and it works very well.

But only per volume. Per-folder support isn't available unless you have 2003R2.

R2 is an essential install on any server imo.
Its just a set of tools rarther than a patch, so as such, theres almost no risk to the system in installing it. .

I updated all our servers to R2 last summer and it was very easy. The FSRM tool works like a charm too.
