    We had a very similar problem which turned out to be the permissions - the Veritas "user" had to be in the Backup Operators group AND the Local Administrators group on the server, else the backup failed in this manner. We always thought that the Backup Operator group would've given sufficient rights - but apparently not...

    Yes it worked and out admin server the following day after applying the patch backed up sucessfully and its been working since then
    Mmm.. but you rebooted the server which by itself is enough to make some BE vs. VSS problems go away.. for a while at least. That said I think I'll double my chances by routinely putting that patch on next time I see VSS trouble.

    I have another issue which has started this week! They don't stop!

    Here is the failure message:

    Note: Resource: "\\SERVERNAME\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes" is not snappable. Attempting to back up directly from the source volume.

    Network control connection is established between #.#.#.#:# (BACKUP EXEC SERVER) <--> #.#.#.#:# (EXCHANGE MAIL SERVER)

    Network data connection is established between #.#.#.#:# (BACKUP EXEC SERVER) <--> #.#.#.#:# (EXCHANGE MAIL SERVER)

    Unable to attach to \\SERVERNAME\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes.
    V-79-57344-33932 - Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again.
