So, I thought I would give MLS a quick ring to see if they will send out an install disk.
"No problem, just renew your support contract and we will send it straight out."
"ok How much?"
"£120 sir."
Now that’s just enough to make my blood boil, there’s no way they will help us out for the product we have paid for without paying for another year of support we have never used before.

My backup plan at the moment is to get a HD and ghost the image of the old HD to it to at least buy some time. Though probably the mobo wont support more than a 8gig HD
Meh = unhappy.
/end rant
Any other ideas?

15th January 2008, 08:38 PM #8 I got away for years without having support from these blood suckers until some numpty increased the number of digits in the ISBN numbering system
So new books have to be put in manually as no money available for aforementioned persons

15th January 2008, 09:25 PM #9 Interesting we have always got on with guys and girls from mls and never had any major issues and if had they have sorted it. The MD is great guy and will bend over backwards to help.
Also on that note do be aware that mls do visit the forum every so often so will see this thread
On that note if run into major problems with mls that can't sort out do pm and will ask MD to look into it for us.

you don't want to know the problem I have had with Eclipse.NET. Still doesn't work right.

16th January 2008, 09:23 AM #11 I wouldnt mind, but all I want to do is move the working old version to a newer computer.
I guess I am just used to companies giving you back up media at cost.

Any normal company would give you back up media at cost.
They will
They just won't post it to you without the support contract
They just assumed that schools would automatically pay the "support" charge each year and they need the money from you now in order to support their stupid "business model"
All they've achieved, in practice, is a they've left a very sour taste in everyone's mouth.
(Or a schools' pockets a bit emptier!)

21st September 2009, 09:45 AM #13 Our English dept is quite happy to pay the £120, so who am I to argue. Our Librarian is often on the phone to them, normally with things that I could sort out but they are happy to help and their support desk is pretty good in comparison with some I could name.

21st September 2009, 10:58 AM #15 That's because a lot of people can't be bothered to read a simple instruction sheet on how to update users.
